The Praxair 7700 Plasma System – Straight from the University of Virginia

Every now and then, something rare comes along that simply stands out from the rest.

This is one of those moments.

We’ve acquired a remarkably clean, very low time,-used Praxair 7700 plasma thermal spray system, originally installed at a University. It’s a complete, intact, fully integrated system that looks—and after installation will run—like it just came off the factory floor.

We’re un-installing it on June 3, but you can take a full walkthrough now at the link below. The photos tell the story.

This system includes:

  • Praxair 7700 HMI-based controller – designed to interface with an ABB robot and Praxair powder feeders
  • Program & recipe capability for various applications
  • Praxair mass flow controllers for gas (no liquid fuel; all-gas system)
  • Praxair 1264 powder feeder
  • 100 kW power supply (still the current standard model)
  • High-frequency starter
  • Water-to-water heat exchanger (note: no chiller included)
  • ABB robot with SG-100 plasma spray gun (robot-only application; no hand spray configuration)
  • Only 193.5 total recorded hours on the robot’s hour meter!!!
  • Integrated 8’x8′ spray room with emergency interlocks and e-stop configuration
  • Donaldson Torit DFT-32 dust collector with 10 HP motor, isolation valve, and explosion vents

The 7700 PLC is being reprogrammed by Praxair service technicians. Additional we are looking at updating the HMI with the latest software available.  Note: this is fully supported by Praxair, all software and hardware are available.

The mass flow controllers will be tested and calibrated both at our facility and again onsite at the installation location. The final testing, system start up, verification of full functionality, and the calibration on site will be completed by Praxair service technician.

You’ll know it’s 100% functional before it ever goes to work for you.

This is not a piece-together project or a patchwork of surplus parts. It’s a fully functional, engineered spray system with ultra-low hours—perfect for anyone looking to put serious capability on the floor without waiting a year for OEM lead times or new cost.

We’ve quietly shared this with a few trusted contacts in the industry who’ve been waiting for a plasma opportunity like this. Now it’s open to everyone—but if you’re seriously considering it, don’t wait. We’re offering it complete—robot, controller, 7700 system, spray room, dust collector—all for $170,000.

If the dust collectors not needed, we can discuss dropping that from the package—but the spray room remains, as it’s fully integrated with all system interlocks.

We’re ready to move quickly. Are you?
